JOE GAUNA
EPICC / iTWEET Program Supervisor
- I was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised on the west and north-central sides of this great city. I was raised by a single mother and had the honor of living off-and-on with my grandmothers while absorbing a world of knowledge. I am the eldest of seven siblings, including a special needs brother who I lost in 2016 to cancer. I graduated from Edison High School in 2000 and did two years of City Year Americorps right after which included serving in various areas in San Antonio, traveling, building playgrounds, community gardens, and other city-wide cleanup projects in communities around the U.S. This experience allowed me to meet such people as former late senator John McCain, Hilary Clinton, and former President Bill Clinton. After working several years for various non-profit organizations and gaining knowledge, I started school at The University of Incarnate Word and graduated with a Bachelors’ Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2010. Currently, I am serving as a Program Supervisor for BEAT AIDS, and I am so proud of the movement I am part of which entails ending and preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS. In the near future, I will be finishing my Master’s Degree in Non-Proft Management in the fall of 2021.
